Tutoring
GCSE & A Level
Our core offer is our ability to tutor the mainstream subjects for GCSE and A-Level to a very high standard. Indeed, given that most of us are or were recently teachers from top schools, what we provide in terms of subject knowledge and familiarity with the syllabus is as good a standard as what a pupil would receive at a top fee-paying school with the added bonus that it is being provided one-to-one. Our teachers have an established history of helping pupils to achieve top exam grades.
Transitioning from GCSE to A Level
The historical purpose of GCSE was to ensure that pupils who stopped their mainstream schooling at 16 years old would leave with a recognised qualification. Nowadays, nearly everyone stays on and takes A Levels or some additional qualification. There is a big step up in terms of what is demanded from pupils at A Level from what is required for GCSEs. Our tutors are particularly well suited to helping pupils with this transition and ensuring that their A Level grades reflect their true potential.
International Baccalaureate (IB)
While most schools in the UK follow the A Level syllabus, a significant number of schools have now adopted the International Baccalaureate (IB). Several of our tutors teach or have taught at top IB schools such as North London Collegiate, Wellington College and King’s College School Wimbledon. We are happy to support pupils with IB maths and the sciences especially.
Frequently asked questions
Do you provide tuition over the holiday periods?
Yes, we do. Over the Christmas and Easter holidays is usually our busiest time.
Do you provide short revision courses over the Easter or summer holidays?
We provide packages of one-to-one revision courses of 10 to 20 hours with a teacher from a top school which can be booked in advance and delivered over Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
Do you provide online tuition?
Yes, nearly all our tutoring is done online. The benefits in terms of flexibility and reach are obvious. We can now teach pupils while they are based overseas or on holidays, and our teachers can be more available to help pupils wherever they are based.
How much does the tuition cost?
Our tutors work on a freelance basis and so the price can vary. There can also be a seasonal element, if families contact us just before the exams and everyone is working flat out. In general, the cost of tuition will be at least £75 per hour but can rise to £150. To this, we must add VAT of 20 per cent if the tuition is received within the UK.
Do you provide tutoring if my child is abroad?
Yes, we can certainly tutor your child if you live outside the UK. What’s more, you will not have to pay 20 per cent VAT.
Do you help pupils with their coursework and dissertations?
We do not provide help with coursework and dissertations.
