Homeschooling

Homeschooling

We are particularly well suited to homeschooling pupils for A Levels whether they are simply retaking or doing their A Levels for the first time. The tutors we provide will be teachers from a top school or college so there is no risk for the pupil’s family in terms of having someone who knows the syllabus and exam board. The additional bonus is that the tuition can be provided flexibly to suit the pupil’s timetable and other commitments.

How much does homeschooling cost?

The cost per hour is the same as it would be for supplementary home tutoring – see above. The main determinant of the overall cost would be the number of hours required. For a pupil commencing an A Level subject from scratch, we envisage that they would need in the region of 100-120 hours of one-to-one contact time over the academic year, September to May. And a similar amount of contact time for their second year.

For pupils who are retaking, the level of contact time could be considerably less depending on the level they have already reached. Home schooling is likely to be a more flexible and cost-effective option if a pupil already has a good grade such a B or a C and needs to lift it up to an A.

Can you organise an exam centre for them to take their exams?

Some families and pupils are concerned that when they decide to home school for their A Levels that there might be some difficulty in finding a centre to take their exams. This is usually not a problem and something we can help to organise.

Does the fact that I have taken A Levels outside of a school affect my university application?

Pupils should not be concerned that their chances of being accepted to a top university would be affected by taking their A Levels outside the mainstream school system. We can help them apply as ‘Independent Candidates’ and support them with their UCAS references, grade predictions and a Personal Statement in the exact same way that they would if they were attending a school.

Do you provide home schooling if my child is abroad?

Yes, we can certainly homeschool your child if you live outside the UK. What’s more, you will not have to pay 20 per cent VAT.
